Publisher Announces New Program to Fund Gospel Outreach and Evangelism

Saint Louis, MO—Concordia Publishing House (CPH) announces Cents Makes Sense, a program for customers to round up purchase totals to the nearest dollar and support global outreach and evangelism through Concordia Gospel Outreach (CGO).

CGO is a mission-ministry of Concordia Publishing House that connects Christian people with opportunities to proclaim the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ through contributions and programs that distribute resources for evangelism worldwide.

“Concordia Gospel Outreach has a rich history of providing necessary resources to support global Gospel work,” says Gretchen Jameson, who manages public relations for CPH. “That won’t change, but now instead of sending out-of-date or used materials, the funds collected for CGO will be used to send new materials, develop special resources, and coordinate programs that contribute to evangelism and outreach efforts.”

“We receive many, many requests for specific resources from a variety of mission and ministry groups,” shares CPH Vice President, Jonathan D. Schultz. “Shifting the focus of CGO to generating funds to meet these important requests allows CPH to assist many more under-funded organizations proclaim the message of the Gospel.”

Cents Makes Sense supports the CGO General Fund. The company notes that ministry-specific funds for Vacation Bible School and multi-lingual programs will be available for direct contributions in the coming months.

“CPH is a non-profit, and so all profits are reinvested in the development of new resources for the church,” Jameson explains. “CGO provides our customers with an intentional, coordinated way to help us channel CPH products and services to many more people who need to hear about the love of Jesus—whether in neighborhoods close to home, or around the world.”

A new Web site for Concordia Gospel Outreach will launch in late May 2009. Questions about Concordia Gospel Outreach and the Cents Makes Sense program can be directed to Susan Turner in the CPH corporate office at 314.268.1278.

Concordia Publishing House is a not-for-profit publishing company and the publisher of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The company offers more than 8,000 products for use in Christian congregations, schools, and homes.
